< Back Witham Christmas Fayre Saturday, 21 November 2026 Witham Christmas Fayre is fast becoming a fixture of Witham's Christmas Calendar. Held over the afternoon and evening, we incorporate the Christmas light switch on into the Fayre. The Fayre takes place along Newland Street, Maldon Road, in the Grove Centre and in the United Reformed Church Hall, with entertainment on a stage at the corner of Guithavon Street. < Back Halloween Trail Saturday, 31 October 2026 Our popular Halloween Trail follows the River Walk from Guithavon Green to Chipping Hill Bridge with items to spot and games to play along the route. Taking place on the last Saturday of October, this free ticketed event must be booked in advance. Details of ticket releases will be advertised on our social media. This is a free event. Please do not respond to anyone trying to sell their tickets Tickets are essential for this event, but they are free, so please beware anyone trying to sell their 'unwanted' tickets. Only participating children need tickets for this event. You do not need tickets for adults. - Remembrance Parade | Towncouncil
< Back Remembrance Parade Sunday, 8 November 2026 The Remembrance Sunday Service takes place this year on Sunday 8th November. The Parade will usually muster in The Avenue from 2.20pm, moving off at 2.40pm towards the top of Collingwood Road then down to Newland Street. The Service will take place at the Memorial Gardens at 3pm. Road Closures will be on a rolling basis from muster until the conclusion of the service. Previous Next

< Back Easter Trail Saturday, 4 April 2026 Our Easter Trail takes place each year on Easter Saturday. This free ticketed event starts at Guithavon Green and follows the River Walk towards Maldon Road. Participating children have a booklet of items to find along the way, and are rewarded with an Easter Egg at the end of the trail. Booking is essential for this very popular event, and details of ticket releases are published on our social media. Tickets release details will be published near to release date . Tickets are required for children only, up to a maximum of 4 tickets per booking. PLEASE NOTE: so that as many children as possible get the opportunity to attend this free event, multiple bookings across different timeslots will be cancelled. BEWARE of scammers offering to sell their tickets, this is a FREE event Easter 2026. Photos by David Islip. The weather stayed dry for our 2025 Easter Trail where we welcomed over 600 children to the River Walk. As well as egg spotting, the children could visit the petting farm at the end after collecting their prize egg. Pictures by Natasha Donna Photography At our 2024 event, the weather was warm and sunny and the day was enjoyed by over 500 children. As well as finding the items in their booklet, the children were met on the way by a magician and Essex Police who gave them the opportunity to see inside their van. < Back Witham Dog Show Saturday, 2 May 2026 Our popular Witham Dog Show returns in 2026. Held on the River Walk near Chipping Hill Bridge, this day promised to be a great day out. As well as our fun dog categories in the arena, we will have dog-related trade stalls, flyball and food and drink stands. Join us on Saturday 2nd May. Proceeds from competition entry fees will be donated to local dog charities. < Back River Walk Bio-Blitz Thursday, 28 May 2026 🌍 Witham Town Council held their first Bio-Blitz on 23rd July 2025, inviting residents of whatever age to join us in recording the different types of plants, animals and insects on the River Walk with the help of the expertise from Essex Wildlife Trust and Essex Field Club . 🐞 The goal is for all of us to learn more about local wildlife, help with conservation, and have fun discovering the natural world. Initially held to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and the Kings Coronation, the event is will be held in 2026 in it's own right. < Back Witham Street Entertainment Festival Saturday, 19 September 2026 Formerly known as the Puppet Festival, Witham Street Entertainment Festival has become a main fixture in Witham's calendar. Held in the Centre of town, the event regularly draws large numbers of visitors into the town to enjoy this free festival. A number of acts perform in the Newlands Shopping Centre, the Grove Shopping Centre and in Newland Street itself, where we close the road between Collingwood Road and Maldon Road. < Back VE Day 80 Anniversary Event & VJ Day 80th Anniversary Event Friday, 15 August 2025 2025 saw the 80th anniversaries of both VE Day and VJ Day. At 9am on the morning of Thursday 8th May, there was a proclamation by the Mayor of Witham on the steps of the Town Hall and the VE Day flag was raised. On the evening of Thursday 8th May, there was a parade from The Avenue to Chipping Hill, where there was a bar, fish and chips and a band while we awaited the lighting of the beacon at 9.30pm. The parade was led by the Essex Caledonian Pipe Band, whilst at Chipping Hill, the band was the Bocking Concert Brass Band. On the evening of 6th June 2024, the residents of Witham came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Our parade, filled with members of local groups, Councillors and residents, was led by the Essex Caledonian Pipe Band from The Avenue down to the River Walk at Chipping Hill Bridge where, after a short service, a beacon was lit.
