Witham Town Mayor & Deputy Mayor
The Town Mayor is considered the 'First Among Equals', sits as Chair of the Council and presides at each meeting of the Full Council. Each year, a new Mayor is elected by the members of the Town Council at the Annual Meeting.
The Mayor is a statutory, unpaid position and does not hold executive powers to direct the Council. The Town Mayor instead represents Witham across the civic life of Essex, raising awareness for local causes and promotes the numerous charities, businesses and voluntary groups that keep Witham moving and working.
The Mayor for the Civic Year 2024-2025 is Councillor Lucy Barlow. Councillor Barlow is supported this year by Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Heath. The Civic Year runs from the first week of May.
The Mayor’s chosen charities for the year will be announced shortly.
