Witham Town Mayor & Deputy Mayor
The Town Mayor is considered the 'First Among Equals', sits as Chair of the Council and presides at each meeting of the Full Council. Each year, a new Mayor is elected by the members of the Town Council at the Annual General Meeting.
The Mayor is a statutory, unpaid position and does not hold executive powers to direct the Council. The Town Mayor instead represents Witham across the civic life of Essex, raising awareness for local causes and promotes the numerous charities, businesses and voluntary groups that keep Witham moving and working.
The Mayor for the Civic Year 2023-2024 is Councillor Susan Ager. Councillor Ager is supported this year by Deputy Mayor Councillor Lucy Barlow. The Civic Year runs from the first week of May.
The Mayor’s chosen charities for the year are the Chatten Free School PTFA and the Witham Foodbank.
