Witham Urban District Council Chair

Chair from the final Witham Urban District Council before they were disbanded

We have very kindly been gifted this chair which formerly belonged to Witham Urban District Councillor J.E.B. Gyford. Each of the Councillors that sat on the final Witham Urban District Council before it was disbanded in 1974 were gifted their chairs. This chair has been reupholstered, with the plaque kept separately, and is available to view in the Heritage Room in the Information Centre.

We have two other chairs in our collection from this set, formerly belonging to Cllr W Marsh and Cllr P Ryland, which are kept in our Council Chamber.
