Sketch of The Spread Eagle
Sketch of The Spread Eagle by Lucy Croxall
This pen and ink sketch of the Spread Eagle hotel is part of a larger donation of items once belonging to the Croxall family.
The Croxalls were a prominent family in Witham in the early 1900's, but the Spread Eagle was also an important part of the town. Established as a coaching inn as far back as the 1300's, this building is still recognisable even in it's current guise.
